Cal-Comm opened for business in June of 1991 as a telecommunications hardware service company focused on the small and medium sized businesses in the Southern California area. At first Cal-Comm had only two employees. Despite having so few employees Cal-Comm quickly gained a reputation as a reliable, budget conscious, solution minded company that kept businesses in touch with their customers.
Early on Cal-Comm gained the trust of major corporations like First Team Real Estate and United Rentals. While handling their large technical needs Cal-Comm gained the experience needed to expand into large cable installations and to build business partnerships with established telecom system manufacturers. Cal-Comm chose its manufacturers carefully; most important that their manufacturers do only one thing: telecommunications. No copy machine or computer companies, Cal-Comm's partners have to share a dedication to telecom as the key to business success.
In 1996 Cal-Comm began the first of these business partnerships by teaming with Estech Corporation, the manufacturers of the revolutionary ESI-IVX family of telephone systems. This allowed them to expand their business base with a focus on offices with less than 80 employees. This partnership also gave Cal-Comm the needed experience in working with manufacturers to create new and revolutionary products for the modern business.
